BOARD OF DIRECTORS

ADEBISI ADEYEMI
Adebisi Adeyemi is the Managing Director of DCSL Corporate Services Ltd. She is a 1986 Law graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987 and holds an MBA from the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University. Prior to joining DCSL, Bisi was the Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary with a downstream oil and gas company. Before then, she was the General Counsel with a multinational dredging company. Bisi is a member of the International Bar Association, the Institute of Directors and a Vice President at the Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce. Bisi has attended Leadership Training at the Harvard Business School, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University Illinois. She has varied experience in Corporate and Commercial law practice and has worked on various assignments spanning corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, board evaluation, Director up-skilling and other governance engagements. Bisi is an Expert-In-Resident at the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan Atlantic University. Bisi is passionate about Corporate Governance and facilitates Board level training on the subject. She is a resource person at the Institute of Directors and anchors a weekly column on Corporate Governance in Business day.

TOUN OKEWALE SONAIYA
TOUN OKEWALE-SONAIYA is the co-founder & CEO Women Radio 91.7- Nigeria’s only Radio Station for Women and their families and also, Africa’s 1st commercial radio station for Women. A seasoned broadcaster, proficient public speaker, media trainer, communicator and strategist, Toun has spent more than three decades as a broadcaster; with extensive knowledge and expertise in Radio & TV production, presentation, directing, interviewing, programming, sales, marketing and media management. She has a B.A Hons in English from Ogun state University, Nigeria in 1990 and has attended several courses & training on radio management & communications. She is a United Nations advocate on Women issues and a Philanthropist. Toun is a member of boards & trustees of various companies including Ives Medicare, St. Ives Communications, Maami & Voice of Women foundation, Vice Chair media & publicity of Nigeria Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture NACCIMA, committee member NERC, member NAWORG, member and secretary “Issues of the Heart” a UK group that empowers women through training, development, counselling and mentoring and founding member of Nigerian Women in Diaspora Leadership Forum as well as a member of the Board of Directors of CEWHIN.

DR. OTIVE IGBUZOR
Dr. Otive Igbuzor is the Executive Director of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD). He was one-time International Head of campaigns of ActionAid International and Country Director of ActionAid Nigeria. He was also an honourable Commissioner in the Police Service Commission (PSC) from 2008- 2013 representing civil society. Prior to joining ActionAid, he was a Programme Co-ordinator of Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), an independent research, information and training institution dedicated to policy-oriented scholarship on questions of democratic development and peace building in the West African sub-region. He also served as the Secretary of Citizens’ Forum for Constitutional Reform (CFCR), a coalition of over one hundred civil society organizations committed to a process led and participatory approach to constitutional reform in Nigeria. Previously, he was a lecturer at the Delta State University, Lagos Centre and has published many scholarly articles on democracy, gender, politics and development. He is the author of several books including Perspectives on Democracy and Development, Challenges of Development in Nigeria, Overcoming Challenges of Transformation in Nigeria, National Security and Policing in Nigeria, Alternative Development Strategy for Nigeria and Leadership, Development and Change. He is the co-editor of two authoritative books on Constitution making and Constitutionalism in Nigeria: Contentious Issues in the Review of the 1999 Constitution and A Citizens’ Approach to Making a People’s Constitution in Nigeria, and two others, one on Poverty Eradication titled Poverty Eradication in Nigeria: Perspectives on a Participatory and Pro-Poor Approach and the other on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) titled Can Nigeria achieve the MDGs in 2015? He holds a bachelors’ degree in Pharmacy, two masters’ degrees in Public Administration and International Relations and a doctorate degree in Public Administration specializing in Policy Analysis. He was a founding and leading member of many human rights and mass democratic organizations in Nigeria in the 1980s and ’90s. He is a member of many professional associations including Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA), Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria (ISMN) and Nigerian Institute of Management. He is a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (ISMN). He is a past President of Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (ISMN) (www.ismn.com) and President of the Ejiro & Otive Igbuzor Foundation (www.igbuzorfoundation.org). He sits on the board of several organisations including Oando Foundation, Police Health Maintenance Organisation (Police HMO), Mining Implementation Strategy Team (MIST), Nigerian Women Trust Fund and Partnership Opportunities for Women Empowerment Realisation (POWER). In recognition of his leadership roles, he was appointed by the immediate past Secretary General of United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki Moon in October, 2012 into the Global Network of Men Leaders to end Violence Against Women.

ADEBANKE AKINRIMISI
A Lawyer by training with more than 18 year experience in the field of development. She worked as the Health Project Officer at the Empowerment and Action Research Centre, Lagos, Nigeria. She was a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Fund for Leadership Development in the year 2000 and she executed a research project on socio-cultural economic and legal dimensions to the sexual and reproductive health and rights of female adolescent domestic workers in municipal Lagos). Adebanke has a Masters’ Degree in Gender and Development (2007) from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK and a Masters of Law Degree LLM (2002) from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria.

ATINUKE ODUKOYA
Has more than 18 years programming and leadership experience on gender mainstreaming, research, advocacy, women’s human rights, capacity building, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation. She is currently the Director of Administration at the Centre. She had worked previously with the United States Aid Agency/Office of Transition Initiatives in Nigeria as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. Her previous work includes being the Project Officer of the women’s desk for the Legal Research and Resource Development Centre, Lagos and a programs staff for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Lagos. Atinuke has a Masters’ Degree in Public Administration (2000) from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria and a Bachelor of Science (Education) in Biology (1991) from the Olabisi Onabanjo University (formerly Ogun State University), Ago-Iwoye.

ADEOLA AWOGBEMI
Adeola Awogbemi is a Research and Development Consultant with 16 years’ experience working with NGOs and CBOs in Africa. With a background in Political Science, her experience cuts across education, governance, gender, peace, and security. Her specialties include program design, planning & implementation, concept development & proposal writing, fund raising, monitoring & evaluation, advocacy & campaign management and election observation. Adeola is an activist, mentor, trainer, facilitator and avid volunteer with extensive experience designing and implementing gender, capacity building and leadership development training and mentoring programs. She has facilitated various training sessions for various stakeholders and has coordinated several local and international seminars, training workshops and conferences on a range of development issues. She is an independent Evaluation consultant.

DR. FUNKE OPADOKUN
A champion of girls and women’s education. She is a principal lecturer in Educational Management at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin. She is a distinguished educationist and presently the Director of Professional Diploma in Education programme of the Kwara State College of Education in conjunction with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.

GBENGA SHADARE
Gbenga Shadare completed his doctoral degree (PhD) at the University of Sheffield where he researched social protection systems in developing countries, including Nigeria. In the last few years, Gbenga has been one of the actively passionate promoters for the adoption of social policy programmes (including social protection and social work) in the global South. Hence in 2018, he co-founded, the CENTRE for SOCIAL PROTECTION and POLICY STUDIES at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Gbemiga is a graduate of the University of Ibadan (1986), where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree. He also holds an MBA followed by Executive Management Certificate for CEOs of Small-Medium Enterprises (Owners Management Programme – OMP) of the Lagos Business School. Upon relocating to the United Kingdom in 2007, Gbenga completed an MA in Public Policy at the University of Nottingham. He is passionate about social development in subSaharan African. Gbenga has presented and participated in workshops/seminars/courses in various countries including South Africa, Rwanda, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Ghana, Hong Kong, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, UK, USA and Canada. He worked in telecommunications and financial services for over 25 years and consulted for the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Ghanaian government. Gbemiga has also worked in different countries in Africa, Asia and Europe and sits as director on the boards of Investment Alliance Ltd., The Watermark WA Ltd, The Anti-Fraud Foundation Nigeria, Africa@UK Limited, Triple AG (3AAAG) UK Ltd and The All-African Postgraduate Research Network (AAPoRG) at the University of Sheffield. He enjoys listening to Brazilian and Gospel music in his time is an avid Japanophile!

SUMBO OLADIPO
An Estate Surveyor & Valuer by training and currently the Managing Executive of Trusymbols Limited. She is a management expert, a prolific writer and a publisher. She works with the Centre on a part time basis. She has a Masters in Business Administration (2000) from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

DR. PIUS ADEJOH
Dr. Pius Adejoh is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Lagos, Nigeria. He holds bachelors and Masters Degrees in Sociology of the University of Jos and of the University of Lagos respectively, and a PhD in Peace and Conflict studies from the University of Ibadan. Before joining the academia, Dr. Adejoh worked for close to a decade with several local and international civil society bodies on diverse development issues. Notable among these organisations are Empowerment and Action Research Center, Lagos, Youth Concerns Incorporated, Lagos, Basics- USAID, Nigeria. He has consulted widely for several national and international bodies including the Ford Foundation, Nigeria, UNFPA, Abuja and UNDP, Abuja. He was involved in the preparation of the Millennium Development Goals Report in Lagos, Kwara, Sokoto, Zamfara and Rivers states,and in the mainstreaming of gender and HIV/AIDS into line Ministries in Lagos, Kwara, Gombe, Zamfara, Sokoto and Benue States. Dr. Adejoh has published articles in numerous books and journals locally and internationally.

Pamela has a first degree in Mass Communication from the University Of Benin, Edo State. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos. She is passionate about children and issues that affect them and also issues affecting women at large. Pamela has worked on a number of accounts ranging from FMCG, Social Research, Telecoms, Finance to Media Research: amongst them are BAT, ARLA FOODS, DANONE, KFC, TOTAL, FIRST BANK.
Pamela has also taken part in development research for Society For Family Health (SFH) and MacArthur Foundation amongst others. Pamela is highly innovative, open to challenges, enthusiastic and always willing to go the extra mile. She has experience spanning over 6 years and has managed projects on U&A, Customer satisfaction and Product innovation & development amongst others using projective techniques such as Focus Group Discussions, In-depth interviews & Ethnographies / Immersions / In-home visits.

Omotoyosi Akande has over 5 years’ experience in Community Development, Business and People's Management, as well as Content Development, wherein she has contributed her expertise both in business and social enterprises.
She is passionate about sustainable development goals with specificity to Quality Education, Gender Equality and Climate Action.
Omotoyosi earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Ilorin, and a Master's degree in Political Science (International Relations) from the University of Lagos.

She was an administrative officer at the Gender Support unit to national Political Reform conference, Abuja (2005) She has been a volunteer to the centre since 2006.
