Our History

We Exist to better the lives of women and Girls in Africa

Centre for Women’s Health and Information (CEWHIN) is an independent, not for profit making, non-governmental organization established to promote the respect for human rights of women and girls especially their reproductive and health rights. Our vision is a society where women and girls are empowered to realize their mental, social and physical well-being, and it is committed to empowering individuals for improved quality of life and social change. Our primary focus is the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. The Centre started operations with a seed grant from the Global Fund for Women in 2003. CEWHIN is registered as a company limited by Guarantee under the Companies and Allied Matters Act of 1990 (Its Registration No. is RC 497455).

Key Milestones

Launching in 2003

In 2003, CEWHIN officially launched with support from the Global Fund for Women, marking the start of our mission to empower women and promote gender equality.

Shaping Policy Through Research (2005-2010)

From 2005 to 2010, CEWHIN’s research on women’s health and gender-based violence influenced key policies, driving national progress on women’s rights and equality.

Growing Through Partnerships (2012-Present)

Since 2012, CEWHIN has expanded its impact through strategic partnerships with NGOs, government bodies, and local communities, providing vital services to women and girls across Nigeria.
