With support from the US Embassy, Abuja, the Centre for Women’s Health and Information (CEWHIN) implemented a project on Capacity Building and Technology Adoption for Strengthening GBV Awareness, Prevention, and Response through Community-Based Psychosocial Support in Benue State. This project focused on enhancing the availability of community-based psychosocial support for survivors of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

The project was implemented across Makurdi, Otukpo, and Ushongo local government areas, and was steered by CEWHIN in collaboration with Gender and Environmental Risk Reduction Initiative (GERI), and the project working group comprising mental health professionals and civil society organisations in the state.

As part of the project’s efforts, CEWHIN also developed a mobile application, the GBV Tete-A-Tete which was designed for two key purposes: to enable more individuals to undergo virtual self-paced training and certification as Psychological First Aiders (with in-app training modules), and to serve as a free, non-judgmental platform for live-chat sessions with Psychological First Aiders. Additionally, the app was made accessible to CSO partners interested in being listed as referral centres for survivors.
