Domestic workers are the unseen backbone of many Lagos households, providing vital childcare and home management support. Yet, their lives are often defined by exploitation, isolation, and lack of opportunity. Many young girls in these roles face abuse, neglect, and limited access to education or healthcare. Adebanke Akinrimisi’s research sheds light on their lived realities and the urgent need for empowerment. The publication calls for recognition of their rights and improved welfare. It challenges society to confront systemic inequality and exploitation. Above all, it advocates giving domestic workers the voice and choices they deserve.
