As part of our ongoing project supported by the @the_awdf

CEWHIN in collaboration with WOPEGEE engaged 300 executive members of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ogun State Chapter in a sensitization session on violence against persons with disabilities (PWDs) and violence against women and girls with disabilities (WGWDs).

With representatives from all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in attendance, we spotlighted the rising prevalence of GBV in communities and motor parks and the urgent need for action.

During the session, Tomisin Adeyefa, a visually impaired advocate, shared her personal experiences navigating motor and bus parks as a woman with a disability. Her story shed light on the daily challenges faced by women with disabilities in public transport spaces, reinforcing the need for urgent action and systemic change.

In response, Comrade Tiwalade Akingbade, State Secretary, RTEAN Ogun State, on behalf of the State Chairman, appointed Local Government GBV Focal Persons within their organizations to:

✅ Conduct step-down awareness sessions on GBV prevention.

✅ Improve logistics and accessibility for WGWDs in their motor parks.

✅ Promote safer spaces across transport hubs in Ogun State.

This milestone reaffirms that every space—especially transport hubs—must be safe and inclusive for all! Through strategic partnerships and continued advocacy, CEWHIN remains committed to driving change, fostering awareness, and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Together, we are building a future where safety, dignity, and accessibility are the norm!
