UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women

This initiative seeks to break the cycle of violence against women and girls living with disabilities (VAWGWD) by improving access to comprehensive services while challenging the entrenched culture of impunity surrounding such abuses. Through a multi-pronged approach, the project aims to foster safer, more inclusive communities where the rights and dignity of women and girls with disabilities are upheld and respected.

Key Project Activities

The project’s activities are carefully designed to empower survivors, strengthen response mechanisms, and build awareness:

  • Training Community-Based Psychosocial First-Aid Providers: Women and girls living with disabilities receive training to become frontline psychosocial support providers within their communities, enabling immediate assistance to survivors.

Awareness and Advocacy Campaigns: Through outreach programs, the initiative raises public awareness about VAWGWD prevention and educates communities on referral pathways for survivors seeking help.

Development of Technical Action and Sustainability Plans: Comprehensive action plans and guidance documents are developed and implemented to provide a sustainable framework for ending VAWGWD in Lagos and Ogun States.
