With the support of Ford Foundation, CEWHIN is implementing a project on Strengthening Access to Community-Based Psychosocial Support for Survivors of Violence against Women and Girls. The project provides training for community advocates, Community Based Organisations, organisations focused on persons living with disabilities, Religious leaders and leaders of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) survivor groups on providing Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) within their communities.

The project is helping to increase knowledge of VAWG prevention, availability of psychosocial support, procedures and how to access them among key stakeholders; Increase uptake of psychosocial support by survivors of VAWG; strengthen capacity of CSOs and key stakeholders to facilitate lifesaving GBV response, prevention and risk mitigation.

This companion handbook is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction while the second chapter explores gender and gender-based violence, prevention and awareness. The third chapter gives an overview of psychosocial first aid, while chapter four delves into administering Psychosocial First Aid and communicating with survivors of gender-based violence.
