Standard Operating Procedures for VAWG/SGBV/HP Integrated Service Provision and Strengthened Referral Pathways For Persons With Disabilities in Lagos State
In collaboration with the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) and the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) developed the Standard Operating Procedures for VAWG/SGBV/HP Integrated Service Provision. It provides a practical guide on how to provide GBV and SRHR services for women and girls with disabilities in Lagos State.
Persons with disabilities may be more likely to experience gender-based violence because they often have additional barriers in accessing support services and are more reliant on their abusers. Abusers may use a person’s disability to exert control or coercion in some cases. Further. This increases their chances of experiencing prolonged periods of abuse, which can have long-term consequences for their physical, emotional, and mental health.
The Standard Operating Procedures for VAWG/SGBV/HP Integrated Service Provision includes the following sections:
- Causes and consequences of gender-based violence against persons with disabilities.
- Principles guiding response and interventions
- Guidelines for actions
- Roles and responses to PWD survivors
- Case management etc
To assist case managers, this Standard Operating Procedures document also contains;
- A referral pathway for case management within Lagos State
- Sample consent forms
- Complain intake forms and
- Other Gender-Based Violence data reporting tools
